Rippowam PTO Weekly NEWS/Week of October 26, 2015

BE KIND RIPPOWAM! — FINDING KIND Documentary to Be Shown at RIPP
As educators, we are always striving to improve the climate within our school.  Schools with safe, nurturing environments where diversity and kindness are embraced, prove to be successful places of learning.  Rippowam IB Middle School has an exciting opportunity to strengthen and enrich relationships within the female population in our school.

“Finding Kind”, is a documentary film created by two Pepperdine University students who traveled across the country in search of insight into the realities of being a girl in today’s society.  The film is an honest look into the truths and cultural influences on school-aged girls.  On Wednesday, October 28th, all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls will be invited to view this powerful documentary in school at 9:15 am.  The film is unrated; however, the Finding Kind website (www.findingkind.com) deems the viewing appropriate for middle school aged girls. Attached is a form if you choose to have your daughter NOT view the film.  These forms were sent home with female students. Please sign the form and return to the main office.

Halloween Dance for Rippowam Students on Friday 10/30
All Rippowam students are welcome to attend the upcoming Halloween Dance on Friday, October 30 from 7 to 9:30 pm. Permission slips and $10 should be given to homeroom teachers in advance. Costumes are allowed (abide by school dress code), but masks are not. If students would like snacks or refreshments, they need to bring additional money. Please contact Mrs. King if there are any other questions at aking@stamfordct.gov

IMPORTANT: Safe Routes to School Survey — *NEW SURVEY LINK*
As parents of the Rippowam Middle School community, we would like to propose the implementation of a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program. The first step is a Parent Survey (link is provided below). We would greatly appreciate your participation in this survey by November 13.  Please note there were problems with the link we originally shared, so if you took the survey, please take it again so your responses will be recorded. We apologize for any inconvenience.
