6th Graders learn about Shakespeare
Friday, March 18.  Performance of  Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.

Shakesperience is a professional theater company located in Connecticut that reaches a Northeast audience of adults and students with their outdoor, in school, and residency performances.  As in the past, they will be coming to Rippowam to present this year’s play,  Julius Caesar, for the sixth grade.  Julius Caesar deals with topical issues of loyalty, good governance, and ambition.

The company will perform an hour and fifteen minute version that includes the most significant story elements of the play while still employing iambic pentameter and blank verse language.   Students will have a mini-unit in which they will read an abridged version of the play and study character, plot, and theme.  The yearly Shakespeare performance has been a highlight for students as they do not normally get a chance to read, understand and then see a performance of this great master’s work.

To 8th grade parents
As your student prepares to enter the 9th grade for the 2016-2017 school year, it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of your child moving on to the next stage in their academic career.  The School Based Health Center is here to help you keep your student up to date with school and state requirements by offering our services during this busy time.
It is a Connecticut state requirement for all 9th grade students to have a current physical exam (dated from 8/31/2015 or later) on file with the school nurse.
The School Based Health Center can provide the required physical exam, give vaccinations, and complete the required blue Connecticut State Health Assessment Form (HAR-3).  We are currently scheduling appointments for these physical exams at the Health Center, regardless of what high school your child will attend in the Fall.
The Health Center is open during school hours, by appointment only.  The physical exams will be done during school time and limited to morning hours.  A parent/guardian must be present during the physical exam.
Please call (203) 977-5130 so we can schedule a day and time that works best for you and your child.

Get a jump start and call for an appointment today!
