Support the Rippowam/Scofield All-Girls Odyssey of the Mind Team

As you may remember, the Rippowam/Scofield all-girls team of creative wonders finished first last year at the Connecticut State Odyssey of the Mind competition. A few weeks later, they traveled to Michigan State University to the World Competition, where they finished 18th out
of 65 teams from across the globe. It was an incredible experience.

Using the World competition as inspiration, they increased their creativity and theatrics and earlier this month finished the Connecticut State competition with the highest style and spontaneous scores for their problem and division; once again earning an invitation to compete at the World Competition. The team is now challenged to raise $10,000 to cover costs associated with travel, room and board for the competition. This is a financial burden for many of the involved families. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Stamford Odyssey of the Mind program, and help get the team to the 2016 World Finals being held at Iowa State University from May 25 – 28.

You can quickly and easily make a tax-deductible donation online at and make sure it’s the Scofield/Rippowam Mixed Middle School Team. All donations are made to the Stamford Youth Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to improving the lives of the youth of Stamford. Any amount that you feel you can contribute will be appreciated. The website also includes photos of their performances, as well as additional information about the program and all five advancing Stamford teams. They are also having a fundraising event on May 1 and the information is attached. Thank you, in advance for your kind contribution and helping to make this dream come true. Please feel free to pass along our request to anyone else who you think might be interested in contributing.
Volunteers Needed For Raptor Dash
Volunteers are needed for RAPTOR DASH! The event will take place on Wednesday, June 1. We need parents to volunteer to help run the course. We can’t do it without you! Please email Doris Tersigni-Frattaroli at dorriito@aol.comor Judy Klym at if you would like to help out.
Our school wide goal is to raise $20,000. Funds raised will go towards sponsoring programs that directly benefit our students’ daily experiences (in class resources, after school activities and a culminating 8th grade trip to DC).

The first 300 students to submit $25 or more in donations will get a Raptordash t shirt and a chance to ambush a participating administrator or teacher with silly string! Every additional $25 donated earns another silly string chance.

Odyssey of the Minds Experience
Please extend an invitation to all students, families and staff to attend the Odyssey of the Mind Experience, a part of Stamford STEM Week on Wednesday, May 11th at 6:30pm in the AITE Media Center.  The Stamford Odyssey of the Mind program is a 21st Century Skills based creative problem solving competition.  All 3rd-8th grade students are encouraged to attend this hands-on and creative evening.  Attendees will learn more about the Odyssey of the Mind program and how you can get involved for the 2016-2017 school year.  See attached flyer for additional information.  Please RSVP to

If you have any questions, or need additional information, please contact:
